If you have been with Movimus Wrestling for a long time, you would have known that we were one of the first companies in the underground submission wrestling space to film in HD and 4K when it became feasible to do so. However, prior to that, we had plenty of matches that were filmed in Hi-8 formats and were released in Standard Definition resolution ("SD").
When viewing on modern 4K televisions today and even on certain mobile devices and tablets, these matches that were filmed in SD can look blurry or pixelated due to upscaling issues. This is because the 4K resolution is nearly 27 times that of SD.
For example, an iPhone 13 Pro has a screen resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels, which is nearly nine times that of standard resolution.
One of the projects we have been working on lately is upscale some of the matches filmed in SD (640x480px) to HD (1920x1080px) resolution. Some Blu-Ray DVD players do resolution upscaling, but the results are pretty mixed. Overall, the visual quality can be a little blurry as the pixels are blown up to adjust for the higher resolution HD TV.
One of the projects we have been working on is to upscale some of the classic Movimus Wrestling matches from SD to HD quality, and in the process, do some color correction and other visual improvements. While by no means it is 4K, we believe that SD to HD is the optimum level that we can achieve without creating too many artifacts to the video. We are using artificial intelligence ("AI") to accomplish this and we are quite happy with the results we are seeing.
We hope to breathe some new life into so many of these classic wrestling matches featuring many of our early wrestlers and reintroduce them to our fans and supporters.
Not all the matches will work well with the AI engine running through it at the moment. We hope that as time goes by, an improved AI engine will upscale all the classic videos we have so that we can all look at them in a new light.
We will release a number of these AI-enhanced matches with no changes to their prices in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, below is a screen comparison of the visual difference.
